WordPress users can automatically embed links to pages through oEmbed since version 2.9. This ability to connect directly to Flickr YouTube and even MP3 files without requiring the addition of code or the installation of plugins makes life easier for website owners who know the importance of creating more engaging and dynamic content for their audience. Before oEmbed, it was necessary to find the file to be embedded, locate or request the embed code from the provider, paste it in the HTML version of the post and only then be able to properly visualize the result on the page.
With oEmbed this process was made easier just add the URL of the content in the text (or visual) editor of the CMS . WordPress supports many types of digital files YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo, SlideShare, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Rdio, SoundCloud, Spotify, Vine and more. There is a list of Consumer Email List accepted sites on the Codex page for WordPress embeds. For the others, which are not yet supported, just perform the standard procedure through an HTTP request to the service provider or use plugins such as Disable Embeds, Lazy Load for Videos, Embedly, Wistia WordPress Plugin, Advanced Custom Fields: oEmbed Field , among others.

WordPress seeks to create features to make life easier for its users but this embedding capability will be eliminated for Facebook and Instagram starting October 24th in the future version of the CMS with the upcoming Facebook API change. A workaround suggested by the WordPress team to website owners is enabling the Jetpack Embedding Shortcode module in the CMS . The company Jetpack intends to send the update in its version 9.0 before the deadline for disabling the oEmbed feature for the two most used social networks on the Internet.
